Road and Lane Closures This Weekend and Beyond

Nighttime work will occur at Little River Turnpike and Braddock Road I-495 exits.

Before you hit the road for the Memorial Day weekend, here's a glance at the following road and lane closures in the Annandale area in effect beginning Sunday, May 27 through Saturday, June 2. The information below is courtesy of the latest bulletin from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).

  • Temporary total closures for up to 30 minutes at Braddock Road east and west between Port Royal Road and I-495.
  • As part of the I-495 Express Lanes Project, there will be closures between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. unless otherwise noted.
  • Little River Turnpike (Route 236) west to I-495 south - Ramp closed Tuesday - Saturday nights for bridge painting. Traffic will be directed to take I-495 north to Exit 51, Gallows Road (Route 650) north, stay to the right and follow signs to I-495 south.
  • I-495 north at Exit 54A and B, Braddock Road (Route 620) west and east - Ramps closed Tuesday - Saturday nights for milling and paving. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Exit 52A, Little River Turnpike (Route 236) west, stay to the right, follow signs to I-495 South and take Exit 54A, Braddock Road (Route 620) west.
  • Braddock Road (Route 620) east to I-495 North - Ramp closed Tuesday - Saturday nights for milling and paving. Traffic will be directed to continue east and make a left onto Backlick Road north, left onto Little River Turnpike (Route 236) west and follow signs to I-495 north.
  • Braddock Road (Route 620) west to I-495 north - Ramp closed Tuesday - Saturday nights for milling and paving. Prior to work zone, traffic will be directed to make a right onto Backlick Road north, a left onto Little River Turnpike (Route 236) west and follow signs to I-495 north.
  • Braddock Road (Route 620) east and west from Port Royal Road to I-495 - Multiple lanes closed Wednesday and Thursday nights for signal work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.
  • I-495 south from Exit 51, Gallows Rd. (Route 650) to Heming Ave. underpass - Three lanes closed Tuesday - Saturday nights for bridge work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.
  • I-495 north to Exit 51, Gallows Road (Route 650) - Ramp closed Sunday - Thursday nights for barrier movement. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Exit 50A, Arlington Blvd. (Route 50) west and follow signs to Gallows Rd. (Route 650).
  • Gallows Road (Route 650) north and south to I-495 north - Ramp closed Tuesday - Saturday nights for barrier movement. Traffic will be directed to Arlington Blvd. (Route 50) east and follow signs to I-495.

If you're traveling in the Tysons Corner area, the following closures will affect the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project. There will be nighttime work with closures occuring between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. unless otherwise noted.

  • Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) north at Tysons Boulevard - Left turn lane closed Tuesday - Friday nights for station work. Prior to work zone, traffic will be directed to make a left onto International Dr., right onto Galleria Dr. and follow signs to Tysons Blvd.
  • Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) south at Tysons Boulevard – Two right lanes closed Tuesday - Friday nights for station work. Traffic will be directed to continue south, make a right onto International Dr., right onto Galleria Dr. and follow signs to Tysons Blvd.
  • Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) south from I-495 to Tyson Blvd. - Right lane closed Tuesday - Friday nights for storm inlet work.
  • Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) south at International Dr. - Two right turn lanes closed Wednesday - Friday nights for concrete work. Traffic will be directed  to continue south, take Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west, make a right onto Greensboro Dr. and follow signs to International Dr.

All lanes closures are weather permitting.
