A woman reported being sexually assaulted in the Merrifield area on Sunday, Aug. 19, according to Fairfax County police. This is the second reported sexual assault since May reported in Merrifield.

According to Fairfax County police, a five-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in the Lincolnia area on Sunday after being abducted from a nearby playground. Police are still searching for the suspect, described a Hispanic man of medium height with average to heavy build and black hair.

held its grand opening on Aug. 21 at its new home, located at 6920-G Bradlick Shopping Center. The restaurant, which serves food ranging in price from $5-$12, had a steady line of traffic through the day.

On Aug. 20, Virginia State Police reported that a construction crew discovered the skeletal remains of a body near Interstate 395 northbound to Duke Street. The body, which was too decomposed to identify, was transported to the Office of the Medical Examiner in Manassas.

Five teenagers have been charged with using “improvised explosive devices” created out of plastic bottles at the Condominiums at Woodburn in July. There were no injuries or property damage.
