Week in Review: Complete Election Coverage, Annandale Sports Wrap Up, Shooting in Falls Church

A look back at some of our bigger stories of the week of Nov. 1 to Nov. 7

This week, Annandale Patch was primarily election central as we brought you everything we could about the 8th and 11th district races. On Monday, Nov. 6 we created a  for our readers to make Election Day a little easier to navigate and we brought you two articles that focused on the campaign contributions for the both the  and  candidate. On Election Day, we had a  of some of the polling locations, let you know what the at some of the precincts was like and once polls closed, Annandale Patch brought you the live results and updated our table (and regularly tweeted updates) throughout the evening.

U.S. Rep. Jim Moran  and the 11th district race ended up being too close to call between Connolly and Republican Keith Fimian and and optimistic. Canvassing for the 11th district was completed and showed Connolly as the winner. An official recount can't be requested until after Nov. 22. On Wednesday, we broke down the which showed overwhelming support for Connolly by Annandale residents.

There was a  involving a Fairfax County police officer who shot an alleged car thief. The man was later  with other charges still pending.

In community news, the  met this past week and a spokesperson talked more about the Fairfax County serial burglar. Annandale High School's  came to a close with Thursday's concert. We also took an inside look at the  and continued up our Annandale artist series by introducing you to .

It was a rough week for Annandale sports as most teams wrapped up their season with a loss. The Atoms field hockey team , the vollyeball team  of the Patriot District tournament, It wasn't all disappontment for the Atoms. Cross Country runner Ahmed Bile  and advances to the state championship.
