Week in Review: Fimian Concedes, Groundbreaking Ceremony, TJHSST and Annandale Sports in the News and More

A look back at some of our bigger stories of the week of Nov. 8 to Nov. 14

The Wachovia Bank on 6565 Little River Turnpike in Alexandria that's just outside of Annandale was . There have been no new updates released to the public, but police are still urging residents to call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS/8477 with any information related to the robbery.

Election Day was Nov. 2, but the tight 11th district race remained in the news. The race ended on Nov. 9, a week after the elections, when Republican Keith Fimian  and Congressman Gerry Connolly was declared the winner.  Connolly was also  last weekend after being hospitalized just days after the elections. In other government news, the Virginia Senate Privileges and Elections Committee  where Northern Virginia residents declared they wanted nonpartisan redistricting. 

With the housing market seeming to find it's footing, . In Annandale, two separate realtors had different views on how our community has been affected. Veterans Day was Nov. 11 and we brought you  in the area with the Annandale American Legion Post 1976 and from  and  Elementary Schools.

Mason District school board officials and residents participated in the  that will be built on the Lacey site in Annandale at 3705 Crest Drive. 

In sports news,  cross country runner Ahmed Bile is the new state champion after competing in the Virginia High School League State Cross Country championship this weekend. It was a good weekend for Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology as well. The  overall at the state meet.
