We are pleased to present this dynamic exhibit of Marie Baumann's watercolors inspired by the wildlife of the Galapagos Islands. The details in Marie's paintings are impressive, bringing the animals to life on her paintings!

ARTIST STATEMENT

Marie has been drawing since 1994, and painting since 2006.  She enjoys working in several media, including Watercolor, Ink drawing, Graphite Drawing, Colored Pencil Drawing, and Collage.
Her recent works include a watercolor series inspired by a trip to the Galápagos Islands, and another from the American Southwest.  Painted on Yupo, a plastic paper, these paintings are luminous with color, the slippery paper yielding sometimes surprising results.  Marie has incorporated a variety of texturing techniques to make her paintings unique, drawing the viewer in for a closer look.
