Present Company takes the classical brass

quintet and adds the beat of drums and digital effects to create a contemporary

sound that freely mixes genres. Members are true professionals, holding degrees

from the finest music schools in the country. Their eclectic programs include

original numbers and creative new arrangements of old standards. There’s always

something for the audience to do to join in the fun!

This program, “Scapes”, aims to move

the listener through different landscapes, moodscapes and mindscapes. The

program is conceived as a whole, not a collection of parts and flows deftly

from one style to another, all linked but not at all the same.

Kirsten Warfield hails from Fargo, ND.

Her undergraduate studies at Lawrence University gave her a background in

liberal arts. From there she went on to the prestigious Indiana University

School of Music to obtain a master of music degree, studying under M. Dee

Stewart. In 1999 she won a national audition for The United States Army Band

“Pershing’s Own,” becoming the first woman trombonist in the history of that

Philharmonic and maintains an active freelance career in the Washington, D.C.

metropolitan area. She is instructor of trombone at Episcopal High School in

Alexandria, Virginia, and she maintains a small studio of private students.
