Alexandria Teacher Pleads Guilty to Child Pornography Charges

Justin Coleman had 1,000 child pornography movies

A former Alexandria elementary school teacher pleaded guilty to producing child pornography Wednesday.

Justin Coleman, a 35-year-old Falls Church resident, pleaded guilty to two counts of producing child pornography. Before his arrest in April, Coleman was a fourth-grade teacher at Alexandra's John Adams Elementary. He  as a teacher and coach. Coleman was the assistant boys lacrosse coach at from September 2005 to August 2008.

According to a statement signed by Coleman, he possessed over 75,000 child pornography images, and 1,000 child pornography movies. Some of the movies were produced by Coleman, and featured him committing sexual acts with two underaged girls.

At one point, Coleman told investigators that he preferred watching pornography featuring girls between five and twelve years old.

The case against Coleman began in March 2010, when Italian law enforcement discovered a child pornography website. They sent a list of 900 people in the United States who had visited the site, including Coleman, to Immigration and Custom Enforcement. ICE agents received a search warrant for Coleman's home.

During the search on April 6, Coleman gave investigators a hard drive containing child pornography. He was arrested, and admitted to both viewing and producing child pornography, according to a statement Coleman signed.

Coleman is scheduled to be sentenced on October 28. He can be sentenced for between 15 and 30 years on each of the two sentences. 

As part of his guilty plea, Coleman also surrendered his claims to several electronic items confiscated by law enforcement during the investigation, including two laptops, an external hard drive, and thirteen floppy disks. Seven pairs of girls' underwear were also seized.
