An Annandale man and a firefighter suffered non-life threatening injuries in a fire Sunday in West Annandale.
According to a news release from the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, units responded to a two-story structure fire at 3739 Morningside Dr., around 5:35 p.m.
Upon arrival, firefighters saw the building, which is near the rear of the property’s primary residence "fully involved with fire." It took firefighters 15 minutes to get the fire under control.
The adult male injured in the fire was transported to the Washington Hospital Burn Center. The firefighter was transported to INOVA Fairfax Hospital.
In addition to the injuries to the man and the firefighter, the release states some of the nearby woodlands were affected by the fire.
Fire investigators said the fire, which was ruled accidental, was caused by the "ignition of gasoline from using a metal grinder inside the workshop," the release states.
non- native speaker.....incorrect, uneducated, awkwardly funny at times, and refusing constructive criticism. Maybe if you were part of the community instead of living in another jurisdiction you would have a better familiarity with its essence and be a posivtive contributor, rather than just making s**t up. Just because someone says something, does not make it true. And if you were in touch with the community of Annandale, per se, you would find enough to report without including Springfield, Bailey's Crossroads, Falls Church, Arlington, etc, to fill the space.
To your additional comments, I will disagree with your accusation that I've been unresponsive to you regarding criticism of the site as I don't see any correspondence with you through the email address you've registered here. I always invite readers to share their concerns with me about content posted on Annandale Patch and I've always been open to criticism when it is, in fact, constructive. I do not respond to insults or personal attacks. To your last point, we sometimes cover Falls Church, Bailey's, and Springfield because we listen to our readers and shape our content from feedback as well as what makes sense for our unofficial Patch boundaries. Residents have students who go to schools in Fairfax, Springfield, and Falls Church and we cover content relevant to those boundaries when it makes sense. We are not a blog; we are part of a network of online news sites and we aim to inform. Thanks for reading.
