Annandale Residence Linked to Baby for Sale on Craigslist

Police are still investigating, but said there was no baby and no crime

A 2-month old baby was placed up for sale on Craigslist, The Washington Post reported on Jan. 10. According to the Post, the Fairfax County Police Department traced the Internet protocol address to an Annandale residence on Happy Heart Lane.

The Fairfax County Public Information Office said there was no crime involved and no baby involved, adding that while police are looking into it, they have not been made aware of a crime. 

The Post article said the listing, which was posted on Friday, Jan. 7, read:

"we had a kid but we just can't handle it right now in our lives. she is up to date on her vaccinations medical records will be provided. we have been calling her Juliet but you can rename her if you want. sorry if you think this is wrong but we think the best way of insuring a happy life for her is to give her to an affluent couple that wants to have kids enogh [sic] to pay for it. pics on request."

The listing information was obtained by a search warrant affidavit written by Fairfax Detective Michelle DuBois.

The PIO office did not comment further on the investigation.
