Car Hits Pole, Causes Power Outage in Sleepy Hollow Woods

Residents in the Sleepy Hollow Woods neighborhood lost power for about nine hours, according to Dominion Power.

A single vehicle crash in the Sleepy Hollow Woods neighborhood caused a power outage Sunday that lasted more than nine hours.

According to officer Eddy Azcarate, public information officer with the Fairfax County Police, the crash occurred Sunday morning around 10:45 a.m. near the 3900 block of Sleepy Hollow Road. The driver of the vehicle struck a pole not far from where Sleepy Hollow Road intersects with Columbia Pike.

More than 300 customers lost power at 12:50 p.m. for nine hours and 11 minutes, said Le-Ha Anderson, manager for media and community relations for Dominion Power. Dominion crews were dispatched to replace the broken pole. Power was restored to all customers by 10:01 p.m., when repairs on the pole were completed, Anderson said.

The driver of the vehicle was charged with failure to maintain control of vehicle.
