A fire Thursday night at Jefferson High School was contained to the roof, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

At 7:20 p.m., crews responded to the school at 6560 Braddock Road regarding a structure fire.

"Firefighters encountered heavy smoke coming from the roof of the two-story school upon arrival," according to a county release. "Firefighters conducted an aggressive coordinated exterior fire attack and quickly brought the fire under control."

The school is currently undergoing major renovation and it is believed that a safety vest was drawn into a fan motor, causing the fire.

There were no injuries. Damage is estimated at $15,000.
