Update: No Injuries in Fire at Lincolnia Apartment Building

Apartment employee says fire is on first floor.

Update: 11:55 a.m.:  A Fairfax County Fire Public Information Officer confirmed to Patch that there was a small fire on the first floor of the Towers at Morningside Apartments. Firefighters responded to the call at 10:35 a.m. The fire was brought under control in about five minutes. There were no injuries. Residents were allowed to re-enter the building just after 11:10 a.m.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined by investigators.

Some residents were evacuated Monday morning after a fire broke out at the Towers at Morningside Apartments, 4949 Manitoba Dr., in Fairfax County's Lincolnia area.

Fire fighters from Fairfax County Fire and Rescue are on the scene Monday morning and say the fire is under control.

An apartment building employee tells Patch the fire broke out on the first floor and may have spread to the second floor. 

Residents say they can smell smoke. Some residents from the building's first and second floors are standing outside while others in higher floors are watching the scene unfold.

There are no reported injuries so far. Entry into the building is prohibited until fire fighters give the go ahead.
