Franconia District Police Station Wins Chief's Challenge

The station finally won the award away from the Sully District which has won the award every year since 2006.

Captain Jim Baumstark and First Lieutenant William Jacoby announced during Wednesday's CAC meeting that the Franconia District Police Station, which covers part of Annandale, recently won the Chief's Challenge award. The title is awarded to one of the eight stations in Fairfax County every year for police initiatives regarding traffic issues in the district.

Jacoby said the Franconia District is known for dealing with a lot of crime that keeps the police at the station very busy. However, officers also managed to make time to participate in traffic initiatives such as car seat checks, bike and pedestrian safety and DUI checkpoints.

This is the first time the Sully District Police Station has not won the award since 2006.
