Man Injured in Fire at Annandale Art Gallery

The man was transported to a local hospital with a non-life threatening injury.

An adult man was injured in a fire at an art gallery in Annandale, according to the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department.

Fire units responded to a call about a fire at 7261 Maple Pl., at approximately 9:50 a.m. on Thursday.

Firefighters encountered smoke and fire in a house that had been renovated several times, to include a business with residential units on the top and bottom floors, according to a news release from the fire department. The seat of the fire was found on the first floor. Firefighters conducted an aggressive fire attack, bringing the fire under control within minutes of their arrival.

The injured man was transported to Washington Hospital Center for a non-life threatening injury.

Many of the paintings inside the gallery were damaged, and fire investigators is working with the owner to determine the value of the damaged paintings.

The fire marshall indicated the cause of the fire was a malfunction of a fan in the stove hood system.
