A prisoner eluded his police escort while receiving medical treatment at Inova Fairfax Hospital just outside of Annandale Wednesday, according to police.
Joseph Medina, 34, was being treated at the hospital around 4:52 p.m. when he escaped from his police escort and left the premises on foot.
Several police units were deployed to the area to locate the prisoner, including the Fairfax County police helicopter, to search for Medina. Police eventually apprehended Medina at the Dunn Loring Metro Station in Falls Church.
According to court records, Medina, who has a Chesterfield, Va. address, is charged with a number of crimes, including abduction by force or intimidation, residential robbery, profane language over a public airway, tampering with a vehicle and unlawfully setting a vehicle in motion.
