Residents Brave Rain to Visit Annual Annandale Fire Station Open House

Visitors were able to check out display booths and learn about fire safety in the home on the last day of Fire Prevention Week.

Annandale residents enjoyed a brief break from the rain and joined local firefighters at the Annandale Volunteer Fire Department stations Saturday for their annual open house.

The stations host an open house event once a year in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week. Annandale has two fire stations: Station 8, located at 7128 Columbia Pike, and Station 23, located at 8914 Little River Turnpike.

Firefighters taught kids how to put our fires using fire hoses aimed at burning homes made out of cardboard and how to escape a burning home as part of some of the fire safety displays on Saturday. Children and their parents were also able to climb into fire trucks and ambulances during the open house and learn how emergency medical technicians save lives and administer CPR.
