Teens Charged in Annandale 'Bottle Bombs' Incident

The plastic bottle explosive devices were set off in July, but did not cause property damage.

Five teenagers have been charged with using “improvised explosive devices” in July incident in Annandale.

According to a news release from the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, the incident happened on July 25 at the Condominiums at Woodburn, located on the 3300 block of Woodburn Road.

Investigators charged the teens, who range in age from 13 to 17, on Saturday with a class five felony under Virginia Fire Code 18.2-85 for “manufacture, possession, use of fire bombs or explosive materials or devices.”

The release states that there were no injuries or property damage caused by the plastic bottles.
