Got plans for Valentine's Day next week? The Fairfax County Animal Shelter is spreading the love this Valentine’s Day. Visit the shelter from Thursday, Feb. 13 to Saturday, Feb. 15 during regular hours* to enjoy free sweet treats like candy and ice cream, hands-on fun with kittens and puppies (while they last!) and fee-waived adoptions on 10 of the shelter’s biggest "heartbreakers."

Bring the family to tour the new shelter and learn about all of the exciting ways the shelter is making life great for pets and people in Fairfax County. Interact with available pets including rabbits, dogs and cats and learn about opportunities to volunteer and foster homeless pets.

“For some people Valentine’s Day is a time to celebrate the love and happiness in their lives. But for others, Valentine’s Day can be stressful, lonely or sad,” says Kristen Auerbach, director of Communications and Outreach for the shelter. “We wanted to have an event here that would be fun for everybody and would bring some joy to the many pets who have found themselves without a home on Valentine’s Day.”

*The shelter is open Tuesday through Friday, noon to 7 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For more information, see the Web site at: Fairfax County Animal Shelter or call (703) 830-1100. The shelter is located at 4500 W. Ox Road in Fairfax.
