Update: Water Main Break Shuts Down NVCC-Annandale Campus Thursday

The school canceled all classes and activities on Thursday. Repair work is expected to be finished later today.

Update 12:40 p.m.

Fairfax Water crews should complete work on repairing the water main break in "a couple of hours,"  according to Jeanne Bailey, spokesperson for Fairfax Water.

Bailey said the 8-inch water main break happened last night and the affected the water supply to two buildings on campus, one of which is the same building that houses the school cafeteria.

Repair crews were on site at the Annandale campus of Northern Virginia Community College Thursday morning to repair the main. As of 11:45 a.m., crews were charging the main and refilling the repair to turn the water back on. The repair will be complete once they're able to fill the hole and patch up the break.

Although the website has not yet updated its operational status, the Annandale campus will likely be open on Friday.
"We are expected to resume normal operations tomorrow at the Annandale Campus," Jessica Baxter with the Office of Marketing and Communications for the college told Patch.
