Alexandria Teacher Accused of Receiving Child Pornography Worked in Rose Hill, Annandale

Defendant Justin Coleman worked on-and-off for FCPS for 11 years

An Alexandria elementary school teacher charged last week with receiving child pornography worked on-and-off for Fairfax County Public Schools as a teacher and coach over an 11-year period.

Coleman, a teacher at John Adams Elementary in the Alexandria City Public Schools, was  Wednesday following an Immigrations and Customs Enforcement investigation into a website that provided child pornography. On Friday, United States District Court Magistrate-Judge Theresa Carroll Buchanan denied Coleman's motion to be released.

Coleman began working at FCPS as a substitute teacher in January 1997, according to FCPS spokesperson Paul Regnier. Regnier said substitutes work in multiple schools in the FCPS system, depending on where they are needed.

In August 2000, Coleman became a Spanish teacher at Rose Hill Elementary, a position he held until February 2002.

Coleman was hired as a substitute teacher in February 2003, a position he held until September 2003.

employed Coleman as an assistant boys lacrosse coach from September 2005 to August 2008.

John Adams Elementary is  a PTA meeting tonight to discuss Coleman. On Friday, the school's principal resigned.
