Annandale High School Marching Band Places First at Nationals

The band competed against 39 other bands and also received awards for best music and best visual.

The Annandale High School Marching Band took first place at the USBands Mid-Atlantic States Championships Saturday.

The Marching Atoms received a score of 91 in their group and also won awards for best music and best visual.

Annandale was one of a total of 40 bands to participate in the competition, which was hosted at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md.

Other schools who competed included Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology's marching band, who placed second with a score of 94 in their group and won awards for best visual and best percussion; West Potomac High School in Alexandria, who placed second in their group with a score of 89; and Wakefield High School in Arlington, who won second place in their group with a score of 83.
