Fairfax County Public Schools elementary school students wlll find an old favorite in the lunchroom soon.
The school district announced Friday that chocolate milk will return on May 2.
The school as part of its efforts to improve nutritious choices in the cafeterias.The chocolate milk they had been getting from supplier Shenandoah's Pride Dairy contained high fructose corn syrup.

The move got mixed reactions from parents. Some thought any milk was better than no milk. Others applauded FCPS for taking nutrition seriously.
Penny McConnell, a registered dietitian and FCPS director of food and nutrition services, said in a release Friday that Shenandoah Dairy has developed a new, low-fat chocolate milk that meets the district’s request to eliminate high fructose corn syrup without adding extra sugar. The new chocolate milk has been taste-tested by FCPS students.

Middle and high schools will also sell the new and improved chocolate milk.
