Deadline for Public Feedback on Braddock Elementary Principal Search is Wednesday

All comments have to be submitted via email by 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 17.

Annandale residents interested in providing feedback to Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) about the next principal of Braddock Elementary School have until Wednesday afternoon to submit comments.

All comments and feedback are due by 2 p.m. They can be emailed to FCPS Administrative Employment Specialist Beth Boivin at beth.boivin@fcps.edu or dropped off at the FCPS Gatehouse Administration Center, located at 8115 Gatehouse Rd., Suite 1114, Falls Church, Va 22042.  

In a message sent to parents through the FCPS Keep in Touch system, Braddock Parent-Teacher Association President Suzan Yungner shared details from a recent community meeting about the type of feedback FCPS wants.

Residents should keep the following in mind when submitting comments:

"The principal is the person who will set the tone of the school so it is critical that you participate in the process of selecting our new principal. There are two ways you can engage:

Provide input on what you want in a principal. Your input is completely confidential. Your input can be provided in any language. Your input can be very brief or long and detailed, in other words, anything you submit will be read and will inform the process. The key is to give input on what you want. Don't sit back and hope that your friends or neighbor submit information - stand up for you and your child(ren) and say what you are looking for in a principal. Below is a suggested format you may choose to use provided by FCPS:  

To determine the best match for the leadership needs at your school, parent and staff perspectives will be used to screen candidate resumes and develop interview questions. Please provide input detailing the skills, experiences, and leadership characteristics needed at your school. Include challenges and issues that the new principal will need to address.  Principal professional skills include instructional leadership, school climate, human resources management, organizational management, communication and community relations, professionalism, and student academic progress."
