The Fairfax County School Board approved the creation of two ad hoc committees for the Annandale Regional Planning Study to try to find solutions to the issue of overcrowding at middle and high schools in the Annandale cluster. The committee will also consider the issue of whether the new elementary school scheduled to be built on the former Lacey site at 3705 Crest Drive in Annandale should be for students in grades K-5 or K-6.

In addition to Annandale High School, the committee is considering other schools in the region such as Annandale Terrace Elementary School, Beech Tree Elementary School, Woodburn Elementary School, and Westlawn Elementary School.
