Parent-Teacher Association Forming for Lacey Elementary School

An informational meeting will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 15 for all interested in joining

Parents of children zoned for the new elementary school on the Lacey site in Annandale are beginning to recruit parents for their Parent-Teacher Association and will hold an informational meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. at .

Located at 3705 Crest Drive, students from various neighborhoods in Annandale including Annandale Mews, Columbia Pines, Sleepy Hollow Woods, and more are zoned for the school. The Fairfax County School Board for the new elementary school on July 28 as part of the Annandale Regional Study.

A percentage of students previously zoned for , , , and will attend the new school.

Construction at the site should be finished by Spring 2012. The new elementary school will include grades K-5 and will rise in enrollment from 475 in the 2012-13 school year to 557 in the 2016-17 school year, .

In October, Fairfax County Public Schools sought input from the public on choosing the new principal for the school. FCPS hopes to hire a principal by Dec. 1.

The meeting will be held in the Little Theater at FCHS.
