What do Teenagers do Saturday Nights? Find Out

What you learn from this teen panel Thursday night may surprise you.

You may be surprised to learn what your children's friends -- and your own kids -- are doing on the weekends.

James Madison High School is presenting "Saturday Night in the Suburbs" at 7 p.m. this Thursday, April 24. The program is open only to adults and is developed by the Unified Prevention Coalition of Fairfax County and hosted by the James Madison High School PTSA.

The program is open to all parents in the area (not just Madison parents), including middle school parents.

“Parents find this to be somewhat eye-opening,” said UPC’s Jennifer Lewis-Cooper in a statement. Lewis-Cooper will facilitate the Madison event, which will include a panel of teens talking about drug use, parties, social media and communication with parents.

“We will not ask the panel specific names, dates, places of events or put them on the spot -- their job is not to ‘snitch’ on others but to educate parents to understand what teens are dealing with and help parents to set better limits,” Lewis-Cooper said.

The Madison event will be held in the school’s Warhawk Hall at 2500 James Madison Dr., Vienna.

West Springfield High School will also host a "Saturday Night in the Suburbs" program at 7 p.m. May 12 at West Springfield High School (Spartan Hall), 6100 Rolling Rd., Springfield.
