24 Days of Summer: Time Enough for Free Music

When is the end of summer? Not until after you've had time for these great events.

by Greg Hambrick

Summer not only feels better when you can get outside, but it sounds better, too. Today, you can catch two free outdoor concerts.
The last day of summer is Sept. 21. Which makes the first day of fall -- Bingo! -- Sept. 22. Patch has found something for you to enjoy each day as we count down until summer passes us by.

Check our events calendar to see what’s happening in our community, and add your own events!

Today, Thursday, Aug. 29, Herndon’s Farmers Market Fun Days includes a performance byThe Grandsons, Jr. This event is just a short ride away and the family-friendly show offers “wild music for wild kids.” The Grandsons, Jr. catalog includes “Serenade To A Poodle,” “Mama’s in the Kitchen” and “Hip Cowboy.”

The free show begins at 10:30 a.m. on the Old Town Green behind the municipal center, 777 Lynn St., Herndon.

A spicier offering is available later today. Reston Community Center presents August’s final Take a Break concert with Sin Miedo. The salsa orchestra has been performing in the DC area for more than a decade.

The show begins at 7 p.m. at the Lake Anne Plaza, 11404 Washington Plaza West, Reston.
