7 Days of Summer: Time for a Free Broadway-Inspired Concert

When is the last day of summer? Not until you enjoy this this twilight summer send-off.

By Greg Hambrick

This time next Sunday, we’ll be ushering in the fall. So opportunities to enjoy the outdoors are dwindling. Today, Sunday, Sept. 15, your family can catch a free outdoor concert at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton.

The last day of summer is Sept. 21. Or, you can look at it this way: The first day of fall is Sept. 22. Patch has found something for you to do each day as we count down until summer passes us by.

The Sunset Serenade includes a performance of Golden Age Broadway classics by the Workhouse’s cabaret performers and special guests. Also, there will be opportunities to chat with the cast, crew and volunteers about the performing arts program at the center.

The concert is free, but there is a $20 suggested contribution. Light refreshments will be served and a beer and wine cash bar will be available. The center is located at 9601 Ox Road, Lorton.

The event begins at 3:30 p.m. on the Quad, with the concert beginning at 4 p.m. The event may be postponed or moved indoors, depending on the weather. Call 703-584-2900 for updates.
