Rotary Club of Annandale Inducts New Officers, Honors Annandale Citizens at Annual Event

Five Rotarians were sworn in during the club's 49th induction ceremony and three awards were handed out to Annandale organizations and residents.

The Rotary Club of Annandale inducted five officers for the 2013-2014 year and handed out three awards to Annandale organizations and residents during their annual awards and installation dinner at the Courtyard Alexandria Pentagon South Marriott Wednesday.

Lt. Gov. P.J. Maddox of Rotary District 7610 helped swear in Jim McConville as president, Glenn Decint as vice president and secretary, Eric Kwon as treasurer, past president and membership chair Dick Bowes, Richard Bowes as a board member and in charge of service projects and Lester Schoene as manager of administration and public image.

Don and Mary Lee DiSpirito received the Citizen of the Year award for their volunteer work with the Annandale Christian Community for Action (ACCA) furniture program. 

The Annandale High School (AHS) Interact Club received a presidential certificate from Rotary International recognizing the club's engagement of students and the programs they produce. AHS English teacher and club advisor Jan Kamide accepted the certification on behalf of the students. 

The final award of the evening from the Annandale Rotary Foundation went to Ted Hussar and his wife Susan for their contributions to the Annandale Rotary scholarship fund. Annandale Rotary Club President Jim McConville announced that the scholarships were renamed after the Hussars.
