Fairfax County Public Library Meeting, Parklawn Public Hearing

Five things to look forward to in Annandale this week.

Happy Monday, Annandale! Today is Sept. 9. Here's a look at some of the events coming up in our area this week you should look out for.

  1. The Fairfax County Public Library Board of Trustees will meet Wednesday and discuss proposed changes to the staffing structures at county libraries. The meeting will be at the George Mason Regional Library, located at 7001 Little River Turnpike, in Annandale. The meeting, which is open to the public, starts at 7 p.m.
  2. Concerned about your neighborhood? The Mason District Council of Community Associations will host a meeting tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, located at 6362 Lincolnia Rd., in Alexandria, to discuss the county's proposed Zoning Ordinance Amendment on Residential Studio Units (RSU).   3. There will be a public hearing in front of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors about the proposed Parklawn cell tower on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.   
  4. Mason District Station Commander Capt. Carol Wilhite will discuss crime prevention and police activities in Annandale at the Annandale Chamber of Commerce's Fall Kick-off luncheon on Thursday from 12-1:30 p.m. The cost for the luncheon is $20 for Chamber members, $25 for non-members. Guests can pay for the luncheon at the door.     
  5. Ready for some football? The Annandale High School varsity football team will face Stuart High School on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The Atoms play away, so the game will be Stuart, which is located at 3301 Peace Valley Ln. in Falls Church. Also on Thursday, the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology Colonials play Falls Church High School Jaguars.
