Irish Cultural Heritage Night, Terry McAuliffe Rally in Annandale

Five things to look forward to in Annandale this week.

Happy Monday, Annandale! It's the final week of August. Here's a look at some of the events coming up in our area this week.

  1. The Spotlight by Starlight summer concert series ends this week with three final shows. First up on Wednesday, Clarence "The Blues Man" Turner and his band will bring a soulful blues sound to Mason District Park at 7:30 p.m. Bluegrass band Ryan Shupe & the Rubberband will close out the shows at Mason District Park on Friday at 7:30 p.m. 
  2. The last Spotlight by Starlight show for 2013 over at Ossian Hall Park in Annandale is another big one. It's Irish Cultural Heritage Night on Saturday featuring Shannon Dunne Dance and other Irish culture dance music. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.
  3. Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe will visit Annandale on Saturday during a rally. The rally will be at 4011 Oxford St. around 9:30 a.m.
  4. It's family movie night at George Mason Regional Library. From 7-8 p.m. on Wednesday, kids and parents can enjoy a family-friendly movie right there in the library. Registration is required in advance for this free event.
  5. The Central Campus Fairfax Choral Society Youth Choruses are holding auditions in Annandale on Wednesday and Thursday at Annandale United Methodist Church, located at 6935 Columbia Pike. Auditions have to be scheduled in advance by calling 703-642-3277.
