Cycle Fest, Taste of Falls Church, Wine and Chocolate Tasting

Here's a look at some local events happening in our area from Friday, Sept. 6 through Sunday, Sept. 8.

The weekend is almost here. Don't have any plans or think you want to stay close to home? Here are some local events in the Northern Virginia area.

This Saturday is the Taste of Falls Church at the Fall Festival. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., residents can enjoy cuisine from city restaurants for $3 per taste or 10 tastes for $25 at the Community Center, 223 Little Falls St. in Falls Church. Argia’s, Dogwood Tavern, Mad Fox Brewing Company, Pizzeria Orso, Sweet Rice and Zinga Frozen Yogurt and many more restaurants are participating.

The 36th Annual Burke Centre Festival will take over Burke Centre Conservancy grounds at 6060 Burke Centre Parkway all weekend long. The free event will feature amusement park rides, children activities, arts and crafts and more on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (with a wine garden from 5-10 p.m.) and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The 4th Annual Cycle Fest, sponsored by the Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia (JCCNV) is on Sunday. Cycle Fest benefits the Wounded Warriors Project and Hazon and costs $50 to participate ($45 for JCCNV members). The $50 includes a Cycle Fest T-shirt, rest stop snacks and mechanical support. The event starts at 7:30 a.m. at 8900 Little River Turnpike in Fairfax.

More than 200 artists will descend on King Street in Alexandria this weekend for the 11th annual King Street Art Festival. On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., there will be live music, art activities, demonstrations performances and more on King Street between Washington Street and the waterfront.

The Springfield-Franconia Lions Club will host a flea market in Springfield at 6900 Hechinger Dr. on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There will be a wine and chocolate tasting at One More Page Books in Arlington at 7 p.m. on Friday. The bookstore is located at 2200 N. Westmoreland St., No. 101. For more information, call 703-300-9746. onemorepagebooks.com
