Irish Music Performance Set for Sunday in Annandale

Mason District Park Amphitheater is located at 6621 Columbia Pike in Annandale.

Solas, an American band of Irish descent, will be performing during the Fairfax County Park Authority’s Summer Entertainment Series. The ensemble will be playing on Sunday at Mason District Park Amphitheater. This free concert begins at 7:30 p.m.

Fifteen years ago, in a manner befitting their name (Gaelic for “light”), Solas burst onto the Irish music scene and instantly became a beacon. Their music ranges from traditional sounds to original compositions. Solas is often drawn to musical, political and social commentary with songs such as “Pastures of Plenty” and “The Wind That Shakes the Barley” becoming core to their repertoire. Their imaginatively arranged medleys of Irish dance tunes are tight, polished and propulsive. Their shows are energizing and electrifying, truly changing the idea of Irish music.
