Duck Chang's Restaurant was established in 1975 by Duck Chang, whose fans affectionately named him Duck…More because of his amazing Peking duck. What's more, his was the very first Chinese restaurant in the nation to revolutionize the cooking process, eliminating the 24-hour advance notice requirement once necessary for ordering this dish.
Duck Chang's Restaurant was featured as the place to go for Peking duck in Esquire magazine in 2005. Most recently, the restaurant was invited to be covered by a major media network; though highly honored and humbled by the invitation, Duck Chang's turned down the offer in order to maintain the family's secret. As tradition goes, the recipe is passed down from fathers to sons.
Sadly, Duck Chang passed away in 2005; his son Peter Chang, aka Duck Chang Jr., now carries on the tradition as executive chef of the restaurant. He says, "You haven't eaten Peking duck until you've tried Peking duck at Duck Chang's."
The restaurant also serves other fine Chinese cuisine from Canton, Szechuan and Manderin provinces. Many dignitaries and celebrities have come to this iconic restaurant to taste Duck Chang's Peking Duck and other cuisine for themselves. If you're in the D.C. metropolitan area, stopy by and dine at this history-making restaurant.
The restaurant is conveniently located just off 495 and 10 minutes off 395 (exit 3B, heading west). If you happen to be in south Alexandria, there is also Peking Duck, Duck Chang's second location. See the restaurant's website for further details.
