Bile Earns All-Met Honors from Washington Post

The Annandale High School senior will attend Georgetown University

The Washington Post has released its 2011 fall All-Met picks and named Ahmed Bile as athlete of the year for boys' cross country. Bile's "smooth stride that was as explosive as it was effortless to run his way into Virginia history books" is just one of the reasons why the Post selected the student athlete for the honor. The Annandale High School senior has had a successful year, competing in several cross country tournaments and often times winning while collecting accolades. In October, he won the Georgetown Classic and placed first at the Patriot District Cross County Championship and ended up being the sixth-fastest runner to complete the three-mile course. Last month, he went on to defend his state title at the Virginia High School …

Annandale's Ahmed Bile Wins Georgetown Classic

The defending state champion and AHS senior finished with a time of 16 minutes and 35.9 seconds

Ahmed Bile took first place at the Georgetown Prep Classic on Saturday, Oct. 15 in North Bethesda, MD, according to the Washington Post. The Annandale High School (AHS) senior's finishing time at the Georgetown Classic was 16 minutes and 35.9 seconds. That's not bad for someone who entered high school expecting to play soccer. Last year, Bile told the AHS student newspaper, the A-Blast, that he initially began running as a way to train to play soccer. Bile, the son of former middle distance runner and 1987 World Champion Abdi Bile, is the defending state champion in boys cross country. His finishing time at the 2010 Virginia High School League State Cross Country Championship meet was 15 minutes and 27 seconds. Despite a foot injury last …
