If a new pet is on your shopping list this Black Friday, you're in luck: The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA) will host a Black Friday Adoption Special for homeless animals at the Vola Lawson Animal Shelter next week. The event will last from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 23. As part of event, potential adopters can name their own adoption fee for all animals ages six months and older, according to a press release. The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria is waiving adoption fees on adult animals for adopters that donate shelter supplies during the organization’s "Bark" to School Night on Thursday. The open house adoption event will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Vola Lawson Animal Shelter, 4101 Eisenhower Ave. The night kicks off the final week in the AWLA’s Back-to-School Adoption Event, which has helped animals find homes in time for the new academic year through various promotions and adoption discounts.
