Volunteers from across the county were honored Thursday at an awards ceremony.

On Thursday, 154 individuals and groups were honored at the 21st Annual Fairfax County Volunteer Service Awards. The ceremony was attended by hundreds at the Waterford in Springfield. Volunteers were nominated in three categories: a competitive volunteer service award, a community champion award and benchmark award for a volunteer who contributed a certain number of hours to a cause in Fairfax County. Photos: Annandale Resident Wins Fairfax County Volunteer Service Award

The 20th Annual Fairfax County Volunteer Service Awards recognized Fairfax County residents and organizations for their service to the community.

Annandale resident Scott Anderson was among 118 local volunteers recognized at the 20th Annual Fairfax County Volunteer Service Awards ceremony held at the Waterford in Springfield on Friday. Anderson, who is a volunteer with FACETS, won the Adult Volunteer Under 250 Hours award. Stanley Garnett won the Community Champions award for Mason District and Greg Sykes won the Community Champions award for Braddock District.
