The Annandale Atoms won 2-0 over the Lee Lancers in the varsity field hockey game on Thursday.
Annandale goals were scored by Shannon Casey and Paige Britton. Thursday's Annandale vs. Lee High School field hockey game was this week's Patriot District Game of the week, earning special coverage. To vote for next week's game, click here.

Fairfax County Public Schools notes several coaching positions are available at Annandale area schools.
Annandale High School (AHS) and Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJHSST) have open coaching positions, according to the latest Fairfax County Public Schools Supergram posted on Aug. 15. Annandale has the following coaching positions available: Jefferson has the following coaching positions available: Falls Church High School is also hiring coaches for assistant track (throws and jumps) and for diving. A look at the latest sports scores from Annandale and the surrounding area.
Players mostly came back strong and healthy from winter break. Here’s a round-up of sports highlights from Alexandria and southern Fairfax County. Annandale: The Lady Atoms basketball team (6-5, 3-1 Patriot District) went 2-0 last week, defeating West Potomac 61-39 and Lee 64-34. The wins were the Atoms’ third and fourth consecutive. Senior Jacqueline Beathea leads the team in scoring with 15.3 points per game. Up Next: Annandale hosts Lake Braddock on Jan. 10 at 7:30 p.m. West Potomac: The Wolverine boys basketball team (8-3, 2-2 Patriot District) went 1-1 in Patriot District play last week following the holiday break.
