Police Arrest Suspect in Thomas Jefferson Library Attack

Kevin Lee Porter was at work when Fairfax County police took him into custody.

The man accused of assaulting a 17-year-old woman in a bathroom at the Thomas Jefferson Library on Arlington Boulevard in Falls Church is in police custody. Suspect Kevin Lee Porter, 31, of no fixed address, was taken into custody at his job at a restaurant in the 3000 block of Gatehouse Plaza on Tuesday afternoon. Fairfax County police charged him with abduction and he is being held at the county’s Adult Detention Center without bond. Lucy Caldwell, a spokeswoman with the county police, said police zeroed in on Porter as a suspect after investigating the case and following up leads. Police Release Photo of Alleged Library Attacker

Fairfax County police are still looking for the man who allegedly attacked a woman in a Falls Church library.

Fairfax County police have released a photo of the man they believe attacked a teenage woman in a Falls Church library on Nov. 6. Lucy Caldwell, a public information officer for the police department, said officers walked the Falls Church area surrounding the Thomas Jefferson Library Wednesday night handing out flyers in both English and Spanish. Police believe the man in the photo is the alleged suspect who attacked a 17-year-old woman in the library’s bathroom. The man allegedly watched the woman study at the library and when she ducked into the bathroom to get away from the man, he allegedly followed her in and assaulted her before she kicked him and screamed, police said.
