Fairfax County has partnered with the MV Transportation company and local area grocery stores and non-profits to provide food donations for its "Stuff the Bus: Feeding Fairfax Families" campaign. The campaign, which is in its third year, according to a news release from the county, officially kicked off Monday and will run through Presidents' Day, Feb. 18. "Stuff the Bus is an important component in restocking pantries after the holidays," noted Board of Supervisors Chairman Sharon Bulova in the release. "The need for healthy food is ever growing and the interest for Fairfax County residents to help is there, so we are happily providing the bridge to bring them together." Actor BD Wong fired up a crowd of grassroots volunteers Saturday morning before they canvassed Northern Virginia for the Obama campaign.
Volunteers campaigning Saturday for the reelection of President Barack Obama in Northern Virginia got a pep talk and thank you from the president through "Law & Order: SVU" star BD Wong. Wong, a “Surrogate for Obama,” spoke to a crowd of grassroots volunteers Saturday morning at the Falls Church campaign office. My name is Goldie Locks, but my rescue friends all call me Goldie. I’m a Golden Retriever-Chow mix and weigh about 45 pounds, but still have some filling out to do. I’m only a year old and very much a puppy—sweet, playful, energetic and eager to please. I was rescued out of a shelter in Maryland, after being picked up as a stray.
