ReplyOne of the joys of being a homeowner is diagnosing & repairing appliances. My wonderful handyman has repaired my washer & dryer many times for $50-$100 a shot, but this time I'm out of luck. Fortunately I had a plan for rendering big scary home repairs painless. More at http://bit.ly/momappliances

ReplyThe first computer I ever owned was an Apple IIGS. It had no hard drive and used giant floppy disks, but it was mindbending to use at age 8. I grew up with computers; you could make the argument that I wouldn't be able to work from home without the education and technology boom that started in the 1980s. Thanks for sharing your story, Steve!

ReplyIf you thinking about spacing infant vaccinations, season, type & your setup are big factors. Spacing vaccines is a lot of extra work for both the parents and pediatrician, but it can be done. Blog post @ http://bit.ly/vaccinespace

Thanks, Julie! My husband and I are reveling in not having to change any diapers for the first time in years, although I am trying not to get too used to that state of affairs. I've seen your group posting in a bunch of places (Facebook?) but am so swamped with work (August was MUCH less productive than I would have liked) plus have no child care until my son starts preschool, so it's on the back burner for the time being. Will check it out when I clear some urgent work deadlines off my list, but it's a great idea!

I was initially excited about this charter school and responded yes to all the survey questions about how it would help my family stay in Hoboken. After talking to my husband, who works in technology, we decided not to pursue this school option because it does not look like a good fit for our kids.
With children in pre-K3 and kindergarten, I am satisfied with school options at their level since there are many good programs in town. I am much more concerned about what is going to happen once they reach fifth or eighth grades, when there are many fewer choices. As well, I am curious as to how many families would truly stay in town when the inventory of 3BR apartments is both extremely limited and increasingly expensive, plus charter schools do not require attendees to live in Hoboken (have met families who live in JC Heights and Weehawken who send their kids to Hoboken charters). http://hobokenrealestatenews.com/2011/11/14/whats-happening-to-hoboken-condo-inventory/
