Joseph's Coat Resale Shop Moving to Annandale

The Falls Church thrift store will open in March.

Annandale residents will soon have another place to shop when Joseph’s Coat resale shop moves to its new location at 7219 Columbia Pike.

The thrift store, which was previously located in Falls Church and is fully owned and operated by local non-profit Bethany House of Northern Virginia, Inc, is scheduled to open in six weeks.

"We're excited about being in Annandale. It’s a great location. We've received a warm welcome so far and we're looking forward to being friendly neighbors to everyone on Columbia Pike," said Executive Director Catherine Hassinger.

Renovations at the location, which is the building where the Fairfax Auto Parts used to be, began on Monday, according to Hassinger. They expect to open in early March of this year. Hassinger said 100 percent of the sales at Joseph's Coat go to support Bethany House services.

"It's important for the community to know that by donating to and shopping at Joseph's Coat, the proceeds are being used to support families who would otherwise not have safe exit from an otherwise unsafe situation… We provide [confidential] emergency services and shelter and supportive services to victims of domestic violence," said Hassinger.

Bethany House has been in the Northern Virginia area since 1979 and Joseph’s Coat has been around since the early 90s. The store sells clothing for adult men and women down to children’s clothes, furniture, artwork, jewelry, shoes, household items and other knick-knacks. They accept all of the above as donations, but not large appliances or electronic equipment. The store serves as family-friendly resource for those looking for “great bargains” and “fantastic donations”.

Joseph’s Coat will hold a grand opening in March and Hassinger hopes they'll begin accepting donations again around the same time. For now all current and potential donors are asked to hold their items until the location is open. There will also be drop-off donations bins located behind the store closer to opening.
